Dear all Using cathead spinning chain has been banned in some drilling contractors?
Can be used for making up the joints, e,g attach to manual tong?
What are the real hazards for this operation?
Any comments highly appreciated!

Permalink Reply by Steve on Howdy Charlie i agree with you to a point my friend but a good chainhand can work around a wormy driller and should actually "teach" a driller to synch with his chainhand for the best overall trip and connection time believe me...I loved throwing chain passed up many derrickjobs to keep throwing chain once i tought my driller how i threw the chain i stuck with him...gitter done!!!!
