World Oilfield Forum
I don't know if any of you might have any knowledge of oilfield guys specifically drillers, derricks, lead tongs, motors that have died or been seriously injured on the drive to/from the rig. Just call me the Erin Brokevich of big oil. My family has been two time widowed by the drive and I'm trying to enact law that will make the drilling companies be responsible for making sure our guys get home safe. If you know of any deaths that have happened in the last few years in Tx for now that occurred specifically to/from the rig please let me know. I am seeking dates (approximate) or names, or even a news link or anything else that I can document. Also if you know of any third parties injured by say an oil guy falling asleep at the wheel. Those will help also.

Those deaths were far more common back when "crew cars" were the norm, one hand would fall asleep behind the wheel and potentially take out the entire tour. The liability involved with getting everyone to & from the rig may have likely contributed to the demise of that practice. Some companies do provide transportation themselves or from 3rd party contractors, particularly service companies, but , fresh alert driver or not, those passenger vans are a multiple fatality accident waiting to happen, so there still exists many considerations......
