I do not see the connection between your directional problem and a bad mud engineer. In water base mud if you are maintaining your vis, weight, chlorides and pH then no, your mud sheet wont really change. I have been on several 7k ft laterals with brine and my fluid checks never changed from day to day because the crews maintained everything I asked them to.
