Agree with you Joe .. Just finished an open hole sidetrack and drilled curve to landing.
Feels good to see lots of openings and having DDs back on rigs.

ADT Drilling Services LLC is looking to hire some seasoned DD's in Texas. Must have excellent horizontal skills and self motivated. Reply to ddrillerone@aol.com with resume. Work starting in August and September, long term contracts.

@davin .. the dynamics of a J or S type well versus a horizontal well are so very different.
There are so many issues that present varying challenges on these different wells, from hydraulics, bit selection, torque and drag, BHA design (DPs, jars, collars, stabilizers & HWDP placements), motor rotor/stator - lobe configurations to surveys and projections.
Your best source of material is your lead directional hand. You would need to ask him a lot of questions cos 70% of what you need to know require hands-on training.
Best of luck !!!

hey guys im a driller that has recently crossed over to the world of directional drilling. basically im working with weatherford and i started my first hole on a 30 deg 850 build and hold, second hole was a 1800m horizontal build and turn. im not gonna lie the first hole was nice to train on but wow the second is confusing. anyone out there know any good resources i can use and or software i could try to improve and sharpen my skills. the guys got stuck in the hole and the fishing crew is working now so i have some time for some reading. any advice is well appreciated.
