I've worked on and run an ideco with a speed kit.....am i old?

Or just old school....split blocks and a transfer for pipe....them was the days!

"wobble stick" U-15s and "drag link"/"stomp clutch" 50 & 75 Nationals for me. I remember hearing about air catheads. Trip in involved a bunch of chin ups on them "Johnson" bars.

i remember in 77 i broke out on a national 50.that old driller worked harder than the hands. johnson bar,low and high jaw clutches,and rotary in and out stomp clutches. my tongs had two snub lines, and my driller broke every thing out with the rotary.the derrick man road the blocks up and down.it was tom brown rig 3, i did 9 mounths morning tour without a day off. i heard that rig is in a musium aroung odessa somewhere. dont know i havent been there in a long time.

1979 broke out on Safari rig #3 out of Abilene Tx. Back then some of the "Old Timers" around here remembered working on it. The Yellow Dog. Tripped pipe the first day out and worked my ass off! Driller told me at the end of the day if i didn't pick it up he was gonna run my ass off! Checked the "Water Table" on the crown the second day and was so scared i was stuck on the ladder like paint! Not sure where the old rig is now but would like to have a dime for every ft it made in it's lifetime!
