World Oilfield Forum
Directional Drillers are still in demand in North Dakota, California, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and Colorado. We are looking for employees and consultants.
It would appear that some of the activity in the shale "gas only" plays is winding down. Although there are still newcomers to the areas that have to drill in order to maintain leases. Most of the activity is just shifting to the oil plays: Bakken Shale, Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale and Niobrara Shale. For some of the operators in the Marcellus, this leaves a bit of a skill gap. Some personnel have no experience on the "big rigs". We are finding that the operators we support are asking for people for the Marcellus with "big rig" backgrounds so they can use them elsewhere when they have finished in the region.
Many of our Clients are beginning to get drilling permits for the GOM. This is another positive sign for increased activity over the summer.
Bottom line, make sure you have an updated resume. Apply with companies that have multiple positions. We are currently cross presenting candidates in order to achieve a higher placement rate for our consultants. Hiring Managers that are sitting on candidates will lose them. We also provide our Clients with benchmarking information so they can remain competitive in this high demand market.
If you are looking for work right now or know of a colleague who is, please have them visit our website for current postings. We have consulting work as well as direct hire employee positions.
