Drilling Ahead

World Oilfield Forum

I am a Derrickhand and a good one.December is the worst time of year to look for work.Everything has been real hit & miss this year in the industry in PA. I normally do not have this much trouble, but it is what it is.Does anybody have any ideas of any companies to apply to in PA.?

I have a job with Mesa well services, but we are just laid off right now.We are suppose to go back to work after the first of the year.I had hope signing up to this site would find me an in to another company because you know as well as I do its not what you know its who you know.

Good to hear.  I needed some good news.

Where are you living now?
I live in Meadowlands.  If your not familiar its right next to Washinton PA.  So Im pretty much right in the middle of everything.  I filled out apps. for about every drilling company I could find.  Started doing this about 2 weeks ago.
Heres what I do that works.First I know Aztec is hiring out of Indiana PA.There are a good amount of companies located out of clymer and Indiana PA,Like Whipstock,CC Forbes, Aztec,Dominion,Phillips.Look up all the drilling companies in Indiana PA and also they advertise a lot of drilling jobs in the Indiana Gazette Classifieds so try that too and it will work.

The companies you mention dont have the online apps or openings.  Should I call or send them a email?  I went to Patterson and Bronco today.  Filled out app. for bronco and hiring guy wasnt in at Patterson.  Someone told me theres a big wait list to get on a rig.

What I do to cut down on gas cost is to call them and first ask them to e-mail me an application and then fax it back in or have them fax it to a local copy center unless you know where to get faxes for free, then fax it back to them. When looking up a company go to there contact page and sometimes they will have a direct number to the superintendent.Ask him if they are looking for any hands.you will start to get a feel for whos hiring and who isnt.If they do not have the supers number on there webpage then call the office and try and gt as much information out of the secratary as possible then get yur app. faxed or e-mailed.First step is to get your app. in

Cool!! I appreciate all your help.  Now its all up to me.  Ive been selfemployed for almost ten years and dont know if that hurts me.  I have a masonry buisness so I know how to work hard.
I'm working here in Saudi Arabia for Nabors, if you want to get working overseas alot of work over here. really nice 3000hp cyber rigs over here. auto catwalks. iron roughnecks. layed back place to work have been here 9 years working a 35 day on/ 35 day off. contact Nabors drilling in Houston. more rigs comeing over needing hands. rigs are stacked out needing hands. have contracts just no hands.
