Drilling Ahead

World Oilfield Forum

Ladies -

Is your DH an an offshore rig or a land rig? Mine is offshore on a drillship
Any kids? We have 2.
How long have you been dating/married? Together for almost 7 years, married for 4.
How long has be been in the oilfield? 3 years
What do you do for a living? I work in communications for an offshore drilling company (not the same one my DH works for)
How do you pass the time while your honey is away? I am super social, so there are constant play dates, birthday parties, trips to see family, etc. while he is gone. I also try to get everyone in bed as early as possible so we can mark a day off the calendar for him to get home.

My long term boyfriend works on a drill ship in the Gulf.
No children
Dating for over 3 1/2 years
November of 2009 will make 3 years that he has been working off.
I work at a financial institution and am in school to be a teacher.
My main focus while he is gone is my school work. I take classes online so I am able to work ahead. I spend a lot of time with my family and friends also.
1. My dh is land rig but internationally (China/Romania/Dominican/Australia etc.)
2. We have 2 kids
3. We have been together for 6yrs (engaged for 4 and not married yet...he's not home long enough to attend a wedding LOL!!)
4. He has been in the oilfield for 13 years.
5. I'm an accountant with a heavy haul trailer business and we own our own gravel business so I do those books too.
6. I'm either working or taking care of the kids so I don't really have any idle time to try and figure out what I'm going to do. Sometimes (depending on what country he's in) we'll have a phone call or video conference through msn with dh. Now everytime I pick up a phone or the phone rings my daughter yells out "daddy, daddy", sorta sad, sorta funny.
mine works for pioneer drilling for now
1 kid (8)
going on 11,years
been around it my hole life
i work in health care
i work a lot to pass the time and spend time with my son we go hunting, fishing, hang out with my friends
My Big Dawg is a Frac Supervisor
We have 2 kids- both over 18 - that makes it both easier and a little more lonely too.
We've been together since 2006, Married since 2007.
He's been in Frac for 5 years now - it definitely gets in their blood.
I quit work after the first year so that I could focus on him- I worked in the television industry prior and was often not home when he got home - or - was always asleep when he left.
I take care of our life while he's away. Yard, home repairs, dogs, vets, errands, bills, seems there's always something needing done.
My husband is on an offshore rig. We have one son that is 6 years old. We have been married almost 12 years. He has been in the oil field 11 years. I have worked as a teacher, but have returned to school for my masters. I do scrapbookiing, my son plays lots of sports, my hubby and I both play an online game together. My family lives close so I spend time with them also.

Hi ladies! I'm so excited that I came across this website! Only fellow oilfield wives can understand the worries, joys & experiences that come along with our lives.

My husband works for Cameron International-He's a sub-sea service hand.
We have 2 kids-a 5 year old girl & a 2 year old boy.
We'll celebrate our 10th anniversary next month.
He's been working in the oilfield for 10 years.
I'm a stay at home mom & I pass the time by hanging out with my kids, scrapbooking & making jewelry.

I LOVE that I've found a group of women who understand how awesome it is to get that phone call from your man & he's saying he's coming home the next day! My husband doesn't have a set schedule. He can approximate how long a job will take, but somehow "about 10 days" usually turns into a month. Happy to be here with you ladies.
Is your DH an an offshore rig or a land rig? safety guy on land rigs in louisana
Any kids? between the two of us, there are 4 kids...18, 17, 15, & 11
How long have you been dating/married? together for 6 years and a month, will be married 6 years at the end of this month.
How long has be been in the oilfield? since last november
What do you do for a living? right now, i am a "lady of leisure" as my friend puts it...normally, i do secretarial work.
How do you pass the time while your honey is away? i spend time with my church family. usually, my 15 yr old is here, so i spend a lot of time with her (she's the only one that actually lives with us & right now, she's visiting family out of state). and i surf on the computer. really fascinating, i know...lol.

being an oilfield wife is definitely interesting. i say we live in east texas, but really, i live in east texas and my hubby lives in an extended stay hotel in louisiana. he was an OTR truck driver for years and years so the being apart didn't take too much getting used to but it still wears on us.

i can't wait to get to know everybody!
my hubby is unemployed for no lookin for work on a land rig in north dakot, we moved here from texas
we have 4 beautiful babies together- ages: 7,6,5, and 14 months
married for 6 years, together 7
he's been working the oilfields for 3 years now
im a stay at home momma- thinking about joining the workforce again lol
when hes away i try to stay busy with the kiddos, spend lots of time with all the fam. although now im here in north dakota on my own so we will see lol
My husband works on a deep sea oil rig named West Sirius (Seadrill). We have two children, 12 and 9 and two dogs ; Rosco (basett hound) and Abe (pit bull).
We have been married for 13 years in august. He has worked in the oil field for 6 years. I am a medical assistant at a very busy clinic in Leesville, La. We primarily see diabetic/kidney patients. When Ron is away life goes on albiet a little more lonely. I go to work, baseball practice, dance classes, church activities and spend time with family and friends who know when he is gone and try their darndest to keep me happy while he is away.
He is on a land rig in the North Texas area
We have two girls, 7 and 2
Married for 22 years
In oilfield for 5 years
I am a stay-at-home-mom
Church and kid activities

I am so glad I found this site. I feel so isolated at times. Most of my friends have husbands with local corporate positions, so it is hard for them to relate to our situation. The hardest thing for me is holidays and weekends when they are so busy with their families. My DH does not have a regular schedule, it is unpredictable, usually gone for 11-15 days and home for 2-3 days.

Is anyone out there in the North Texas area?
i'm in northeast texas...near longview. whereabouts are you?
