I just wanted to throw this out there for some answers from you ladies. I know none of my other friends would be able to answer me the same way you could. My husband and I having been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year now and he has been working as an MWD hand for about 10 of those months. We knew it wouldn't be easy trying to conceive with him being gone so much but recently we found out that things are a little more complicated. I will have to go through rounds of fertility treatments to be able to get pregnant and I'm frustrated that after all that poking and prodding and what not he may end up somewhere else when its time. Have any of you dealt with this? Is it just easier to wait a little longer before trying to take all theses big steps?
It's so great to have a group of ladies to turn to that understand what we are all going through.

If your not constrained by a job, you could try getting a hotel room with him around your most fertile days (generally around the last week before your period) you could also try to be artificially inseminated. I'm not sure about the costs of such a procedure, but hubby wont have to be around for that. There are also a lot of natural home remedies and herbs to try before you go getting poked and prodded. lol Temperature is apparently important. On your part as well as his. You could try getting him to have a colder shower than normal right before. As sperm are more active in a cooler environment. (this is why the testicles are outside the body) Unfortunately, that's as far as my knowledge base will take me. I hope my suggestions help you, and good luck.

Permalink Reply by Kat Wayne on November 26, 2012 at 3:07pm I myself have never taken fertility drugs...and because of stress and such of having to get adjusted to him being on the rigs..we just took it easy..and then planned a vacation where we were having fun and relaxed and two years after trying finally came about it naturally...I did have two miscarriages that were hard to deal with but when you are stressed and not ready things like that will happen..I just say let your body know when you are ready..enjoy him while he is home..and dont stress the small stuff..How old are you? and How long have you been married? I am now 32 years old and have a beautiful 6 year old son and a 5 year old daughter that came immediately after..lol...Good Luck..and hope all goes well..:)
Permalink Reply by tina on January 16, 2013 at 8:19pm Well I have been an oildfield wife for 17 years 12 of them years have been with hubby oversea .our last 2 baby's were during the last 12 years . I know for me it took a bit longer to get pg.We got pg in 2003 and had miscarriage . Dr told us to wait 3 months before we tried again so we did and that 3 months ended up taking us another year to get pg because he is gone so much. Then with our last one to which the Lord planned wamo got pg right off the bat.So the best suggestion I could give ya is when he is home get busy lol and stay busy lol.If you know what I mean.It will happen I have 4 daughters 21,13,10,7 and one grand daughter. It will happen unless there is a underlinging problem I would not us the fetil. drugs like clomid ect. I knew 2 people who have and ended up having major female problems because of it Good luck hon wish you the best
