A New/ Old Scam

Recently I have talked to a friend about employment in Nigeria. This person is a fluid specialist (Mud Man). Without prior experience on the brake, they offered him a job as an AD paying him $35,500/month. He didn't BS them on his application to the position, he even asked me what a "assistant Driller" job would encompass.
Then after he was "accepted" to the position, they asked him to send $875.00 dollars to get the visa, and certification to enter Nigeria to work.
I told him to STOP and not send any money to them. First to receive $35,500/month as an AD is way out of the line........Hell I'm a companyman trying to make $1000/day...which is way less than an AD is making in his field.
Post your opinion's here........I'm glad he contacted me before the lure of big $$$$ took him to the bank

i have heard of this kinda game.....experienced it personally......You know, back when it was busy out in western okla. and texas panhandle i was running the mud on anywhere from 4 to 7 rigs a day as a mud man making 200 a day per rig as an independent consultant.......paid double if called back out......24 hour service humped up all the time never any good rest....Just always at the oil companies mercy... called out to fix the smallest of small wellbore issues.........Now for an AD to knock down 35,500.00 a month and paid on his days off is insane...If there is such a job out there please let me know.......

I didn't win the big prize on the last lotto, but I won enough to make it worth $20 Nigerian. Don't know how you did it, but if you send me your mailing address, I'll print up a $20 bill Nigerian and send it to you ...

Folks I get a ton of these types of E-mails....PLEASE folks just hit the delete button...you'll thank us later trust me !!! It is a shame that anybody would pray on someone with this type of trickery in these extremely trying times....again...Just Say NO !!!!

This goes on a lot Karl. Not sure how they get the email addresses but they do. I got one a week ago telling me that there are several companies looking for Co Men and they were interested in me. Got a long spiel on how they will ensure I got a good deal, but first I had to register with their recruitment group for $600. Did not even give them the dignity of a reply telling them to get lost. Reason for this is that once you reply they know it is an active email address and start bombarding you will even more spam. The old maxim applies, it's a good one to live by, if it sounds too good to be true, it is (no probably about it in my book).

The ones I get are target specific ie DSV - OIM - Senior TP etc and within the lines of my experience. I really think they get the email addresses of rigzone.....

It's a scam but I ain't heard of it since the rush for hands to go to Saudi in the early 80's, hell if they paid that much for no experience imagine what they would pay for 30 yrs. Glad you caught this , but someone will fall for it thinking get rich quick.
