On the last hole I was on we were 5,500 feet with 12 8"collars,12 heavyweight and 51/2 drill steel.String weight was at 190,000 on a double. We were making connect.Made up and went to bottom.About 15 feet later it torqued up.Driller tried to pick up,but we were hung. The derrickhand forgot to close the valve going out to the flowline. He closed two of them, but forgot one so the driller did not notice because it was not fully releasing so the flowline was not blowing like it does when all the air is off the hole.Anyways they were pulling up to 240,000 and snap the main chain on the drum(the big 6"wide one).To watch that rig twist and come up on the front jaccks like that was crazy! They decided to pull more and everyone, but the pusher walked away from the rig because this was getting really dangerous. They pulled around 260 and 270,000 which is crazy weight for a double and there was a big SNAP.The sub base snapped under the rig and damn near layed the rig over and I mean damn near!We ended up having to set the string in the slips and rigging down so we could send the sub back to the shop to get welded on.They ended up doing what I told them to do in the first first place and called out a pump truck to get pumped out of the hole.Imagine that.Needless to say the derrickhand was fired, but all that could have been prevented with a turn of a valve and paying a little more attention.Thank You
