I wrote this to maintain my sanity whilst on a fishing job in Tunisia.
It's quite long but might amuse a few of you.
I've attached it due to it's length. "My Tunisian Diary"

Wow, that is one heck of a story indeed. I definitely understand the feeling of wanting off of a job more than anything else, & how close you can become with a rig crew after a while. I did enjoy your sense of humor while reading through it, definitely brought on a chuckle or two. Great story Jonh, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Robert glad you took the time to read the tale and enjoyed it.
As I said it was written to maintain my sanity but also, as I'm sure you gathered, with a bit of tongue in cheek as well.
How about coming to a rig with no desander and them knuckle heads wondering why the water loss is so high? Saudi Arabia.
John, what an amazing story. I spent some time in the Saudi Arabian sand with Saipem.
I arrived on December 14, 2000 to a location with no camp, a derrick and an SCR house, the rest of the rig was in transit from Italy or in the customs yard at Algezeria waiting for the “ la mordida” as they say in Mexico, customs officials are alike in all foreign countries. Low pay I guess. Any way we built the most of the rig in 60 days (I was supposed to be working 28/28). My reliefe finally got there in March. But as I was leaving the Office to return home the whole rig turned out to see me off God bless the or Allah be praised those Pakistanis and Phillipinos where working hands and seemed to really respect me. Your tail of your hands reminded me of how humble I felt that day.

Ther are more stories of my time in Saudi Arabia but I will save them for a later date
John Henri, I realize it was an ordeal to go through, but dammit that was some funny stuff.
Morning Guys
thanks for taking the time to read "My Diary"
I know that we have all "been there" before and I guess that's what bands us all together no matter where we are.
The most exclusive club in the World is the way I've always discribed the patch to outsiders and I guess you all agree with that?
I don't care who you are that's funny. I sure some guys don't believe, but I'm here to tell you if you work as an expat in the Middle East you will see some things that you will never see anywhere else in the world.
Hi You Guy's
Great reading your 'exploits' I worked in the middle east 1963 -65 off Das Island Persian Gulf on an old Louisianna 8 leg barge, as a UK green horn worm I did not know what I had let myself in for but eventually got the hang of it and eventually I got to understand the language that the pushers and drillers where saying (they came from Louisanna eventually made Derrickman. I tell yah, we had no safety men those days, just got on with the job, ran our own casing, fittied our own Xmas trees now its all done differently, thats progress I suppose.
Regards
