The 10 oclock news tonight reported it was not on a rig as previously reported, but was rather an explosion at some kind of tank battery as they were spraying insulation, and in fact 2 people had been taken into the hospital.  I know nothing more than that.

Thanks Paul

We picked the story up from the Williston Hearld. As is often the case when the media reports 'Rig"  they are often referring to a location of tank batteries or something completely different. Thanks fro updating this. Still I hope we can get more information on the cause so maybe similar can be avoided in the future.

Two men were injured in an explosion at an oil well site southeast of Grenora at about midday Friday.

The tank battery explosion left one man burned and the other with a broken leg, though further information on their conditions was not released Friday night, according to the Associated Press. The men were working on a tank battery at the site at the time of the incident, the Associated Press report said.

Both men, ages 23 and 24, were transported to Mercy Medical Center, Capt. Steve Kerzmann of the Williston Fire Department said Saturday morning. Kerzmann could not confirm which man sustained each injury, but said the calls came in at 12:46 p.m. and 1:17 p.m. Friday.

“Two people injured,” Sheriff Scott Busching said in the middle of the afternoon Friday as first responders returned from the site. “I don’t know how seriously.”

The Grenora Fire Department, Williston Ambulance and Williams County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, Busching said.

The sheriff’s office referred further questions about the incident to Monday during business hours.
