Not trying to be a s*******, but this is a worms stunt. You HAVE to know where the crown & the floor are. Simply unexcuseable.

That is what happens when the office does all the hiring, the man running rig is now just a phone jockey and pencil pusher, the beurecrats are runnin the show and have been since I last worked for Ensign 20 years ago...........

Please explain what happened when the rig "crowned". Thank you

This is what happens when you pull up to far...you hit the crown....and the rest is history

Interesting to note the slips were in the hole-meaning the hands kicked them in-watched the 3rd tool joint go by while waiting on the 4th...never been on a rig where you could see the 4th...but close.. Hands got to pay attention just like the Drillers. Too many times hands just take it for granted that the driller is not going to ever make a mistake...you got to scream when you see that 3rd tool joint go head high...WHOA!

Well said Curtis, well said....It's not just the drillers responsibility, everyone is supposed to look out for each another.
Comment by BILLY SEWELL on October 11, 2010 at 10:04pm
DID THEY HAVE A CROWN AUTOMATIC?

Dang, that sucks.
Comment by Tim Robbins on October 14, 2010 at 4:52pm
No injuries, they had drilled 1 single of a 3 pipe stand and reached surface td, they had also just changed out spools of drilling line and didnt check crown saver.
Comment by Charlie C on October 16, 2010 at 6:05am
This is a huge mistake by the Driller...however...the Driller has to watch the drill line, the dead man, the hands, the weight indicator, the stand pipe pressure, the position of the blocks and string, all while working the drillers console...did I forget anything? And what do the hands have to watch? The string, the tongs, each other? Why can't the hands help out the Driller, someone watching the string a blocks, someone's eye on the stand pipe pressure, and another on the dead man...whatever. The Driller is a human being too, he can make mistakes, forget something, zone out for a split second, or concentrate too much on one thing. It takes everyone to make a team...and a team works together, and covers each others backs (and I'm not talking about from the Pusher or Company Man).
