Explosion Injures South Texas Oilfield Worker

March 18, 2013

An oilfield worker was hospitalized in San Antonio Sunday following an explosion in South Texas, officials said.
The worker, whose name was not immediately released, sustained third-degree burns on more than 70 percent of his body when a gas-operated heater he was trying to light exploded, according to KABB-TV.
Officials confirmed the man was flown from a site near Tilden, in McMullen County, to the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
It was not immediately clear where the explosion occurred. No one with the McMullen County Sheriff's Department was available for comment Sunday, and County Judge James Teal said he wouldn't have further details until today.

Terrible case. Flammable gas and opened lights! What he is thinking about?
