Adding another twist to the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, BP claimed today in a court filing that Halliburton intentionally destroyed evidence relating to the Macondo blowout that took the lives of 11 oil workers.
Specifically BP claims that Halliburton destroyed test results and computer analysis in an attempt to eliminate risks that the evidence could be used at trial against the oil well cementing company.
BP has asked the court to order Halliburton to hand over the computer used in job analysis over to an independent electronics forensic company for investigation.
Halliburton stated Monday that they are reviewing the BP motion and that they believe the conclusion BP is asking the court to draw is without merit.
In September Halliburton accused BP of “negligent misrepresentation, business disparagement and defamation”, claiming that BP had provided Halliburton with inaccurate information before cementing operations began on the final casing run at the Macondo location.
Failure of the cement job has been a major issue in the Transocean Deepwater Horizon tragedy investigations and should play a major role in assessing damages.
The damages trial is set to begin in New Orleans in February 2012.

The only people to benefit from this disaster will be the legal 'worms' who have NO idea about our industry and how we operate as a 'family' (or it did in the past).
We are seeing less and less about the unfortunate departed members of our 'family'.
ALL the talk is about the 'point the finger' game that we as the workers in this 'family' have no say in.
We must continue doing our part as detailed by procedures.
The legal game will not end in the foreseeable future, and we will not see any benefits from it.
Why!!
Which one should have the priority People , assets , environment or reputation ?
I think if we try to keep our reputation in standard level we will keep others in well conditions.
Comment by James C.(Craigo) Sexton on December 18, 2011 at 3:40am I say BP had a worm running the show out there. No matter what is said the fact is 11 souls went home before their time.
