New Mexico Oilfield Accident Near Artesia Kills Dexter Man

Nov. 22
Dover Magby, 49, of Dexter, died of head trauma at Artesia General Hospital following an oil field accident Saturday at a United Drilling site in southern Chaves County, the Carlsbad Current-Argus reported.
Sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Zuniga said Magby may have been crushed while standing between two pieces of equipment that cycle and fill up with mud, but investigators are still trying to find out how and why the accident occurred, the Current-Argus said.
Magby, who was employed by Closed Loop Specialties of Carlsbad, was born and raised in Carlsbad, according to an obituary notice.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad, and burial will follow in the new section of Carlsbad Cemetery, according to the Current-Argus

He was hooking up a chain so when they pulled the full box foreward the others would trail along so they didn't have to go back and move the others. The forklift driver said he didn't see him. Very bad day, very bad indeed. Be safe out there guys.
