Oilfield Worker Killed In Fall On Transocean Platform

March 6th, 2013

Police are investigating the death of a man who fell while working on an oil platform in Invergordon, UK.

Northern Constabulary said the incident happened at about 06:50. Police officers and emergency services personnel were at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive has been alerted to the incident on the Sedco 712.

Police said no more details would be released until the man's family had been informed of his death.

Transocean, the rig's owners, said the 30-year-old rig had been moored in the Cromarty Firth for several years.

It was towed to the quayside at nearby Invergordon at the end of January for maintenance and upgrade work.
