Stephens County Sheriff's office deputies were called to the scene of an oilfield accident early Thursday morning said Sheriff Dan Young.
Danny Howk, age 62 of Breckenridge, died as a result of injuries from servicing a pumpjack unit south of Breckenridge.
Sheriff’s office deputies were dispatched to an oil field site located on FM 2231, south of Breckenridge at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Howk was reported missing to other employees on Thursday morning.
A search led authorities to the well location identified as being #SJU No. 39 on FM 2231.
Sheriff’s office investigators believe that Howk had gone to the well to service the pumpjack.
While working on the unit, Howk received injuries that caused his death.
Howk’s body was transported to the Tarrant Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
The investigation is still ongoing and the office of Occupational and Safety Hazards (OSHA) is sending a representative to the area to conduct an investigation also.
