Ricky Rodriguez

Hi Everyone,
I'm a Drilling Consultant that's had to go back to roughnecking on a rig. I worked for the same Drilling Company on the same rig for 13yrs and like most of you, I worked my way up from worm's corner to Toolpusher. After the company was bought out I didn't like the changes so I went Consulting for R&S Oilfield Consulting out of Wynnewood,OK for Sam Doty. I thougt I'd finally made it till my rig was stacked out in Dec,08. Hopefully thing's will pick up for all of us and we can all go back to work. I've drilled all over the Texas Panhandle. If anyone has any job info. Please let me know. I know I haven't been doing this as long as most you guys but we all started somewhere.

Ricky, Your life seems to be a paralell to mine in the 80's. I got my first consulting job in 1980 only to loose it by 1984. I wished and hoped and cried trying to get back to consulting. Remember my good friend the measure of a man is not how he deals with sucsess but how he deals with adversity. It will come all in good time and you will have learned more by going back down the ladder than you did climbing it the first time. I am proud to be your friend. You are a good man and I have learned a whole lot from you and my other hispanic friends. Taylor

Ricky, how are things? What is your current status as far as work? I wish I had good news other than I watched a pretty smart guy on the tube the other night saying that we were just going through a price correction and Natural Gas should be back over $6.00 by next year. I will believe it when I see it. I have learned some interesting facts lately on usage and why we are not using more gas. I will try to fill you in later. Taylor

Well we do what we have to in order to survive. My outfit has been more or less shut down since last Christmas. We do get a little work here and there. Out of the 8 consultants that I have only 1 is now working on a schedule and we are dang glad to get it. I really don't expect things to pick up until after the first of the year when the cold weather sets in and the gas price gets back up to at least $6 and stabelizes, then it should be game on again. There are rumors to the effect of this and that, I have chased them all, but the realality is the price. Right now, the storages are full, the pipe lines are packed, and the price is too low to drill for it. Its more favorful for companies to buy out some one with proven reserves than to take a risk and drill for it. Hang in there, this isnt the first really slow down I have seen and if you stay in this business very long, it probably wont be the last. Good hearing from you, stay in touch, and good luck.

We do what we have to do. My first consulting job lasted 4 years and then the 80's boom ended. You will have another dont worry. It may be a while but its always been so. The measure of a man is not how he deals with his sucsess, but how he deals with adversity. You are a great driller as I remember and it did not suprise me to see you go up the ladder. I will keep in touch.
