Hi everyone. My name is Stephenie and my husband is Doug. He is a DD and I am a stay at home mom, raising our 3 children. Two boys & one girl. We live in Checotah, OK and have a awesome life, beautiful home, wonderful family. We are both transplants from California my self being here in Oklahoma since 99 and Doug since 02. Cute love story, we actually lived within miles of each other for 10 years in California and moved to Oklahoma before meeting.
My hobbies are reading, computer games, crocheting and my children. I am also going to be coaching my daughters cheerleading sqaud this year. (an old hobby from school 20 years ago) LOL should be a chore...
I love spending time with my children, helping them with homework & sports, or even playing a video game or two with them.
We are a spiritual family, Lord, Family & Love.......
Looking to meet some new friends on here and assitance with stress relief, this dry period has about got the best of me...

Hi Stephanie, Hubby is a Matco. He works for Seadrill in the Jurong shipyard in Singapore. He was home for 4 months b/c he worked a 89 day hitch. I know lots for guys are out of work right now, and it's hard. Hubby is also an independent cont, so we would not get any unemp either. I am sorry but I have no advice to give except for ur hubby to send out resumes to EVERY company he can think of. I am not too sure, but I believe Diamond is hiring in Singapore. I wish you guys the best of luck in these hard times.

well deepwater gulf is not just something you jump into, not saying that he cant do it but it takes a little training and right now thats not happening anywere. i work for Allis-Chalmers (Strata Directional) Energy and we have horizontal work in PA., and Colorado has just started back up in the basin. i have a friend that just went back to work there. Sounds like he needs to get to work for a company and dump the contract work. All our contract hands were the first to go.

Ok, now I get it. That is a good occupation to have, but yes, very vulnerable to the demand for oil and gas. My friend and college room mate does that, though I don't know his exact title. He worked for years in the North Sea, then the Gulf of Mexico. Now he's up in Alaska. He started with Chevron in 82 and has been with them ever since. I think he was top man on the off shore rig, but I don't know for sure.

Around here directional drilling is almost unheard of. It has emerged lately as a means of drilling under highways, wet lands, etc. It's been tried by another company in the Allegheny National Forest on some oil wells.

Now, when it comes to the big Marcellus wells down by Pittsburgh, directional drilling has become the state-of-the-art way of doing things. Though many of the Marcellus wells are vertical, the newer ones are drilled down about a mile, then a few thousand feet horizontally through the middle of the 100-foot thick shale formation.

Now things have slowed down in that area as well, mostly due to Obama's policies or threat of policies, and the price of gas. They're still drilling, but not at the pace they were.
