New Weight Indicator Tool For Workover, Completion, Milling & Fishing

Feb. 8th, 2013In the course of my fishing duties, up here in the Bakken, I have run into a problem that is enough to make a fisherman pull out his already thinning hair.I often get a simple pick-up job to retrieve a tubing anchor and 2 or 3 joints of tubing. Easy job. Except, the fish doesn't weigh much and the rig has…See More

Cold Weather Living In The Bakken

Jan 22, 2013I sit here today, writing this, and hiding out from a cold snap that will get anyone’s attention. Patterson UTI Psyche Test

I've heard several people say they flunked the Patterson Psyche test. What's up with that? Does anybody know where to get one? What are they looking for?

For want of a nail, a shoe was lost...

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.

For want of a shoe the horse was lost.

For want of a horse the rider was lost.

For want of a rider the battle was lost.

For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.

And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Ancient Proverb

There is practically no field of endeavor that illustrates the truth of this proverb than the drilling industry. From the smallest house well jobs, to the most technically challenging… Continue

Economic consequenses of the spill

As more rig shut down, and more hands get laid off, the consequences of this are widening. Work boat shut down, fuel suppliers, boat-builders, it goes on and on.

These consequences are spreading in concentric, ever-widening circles.

It has come to my attention that it has even trickled down to the 'gentleman's clubs' in south Louisiana! Club owners are now having to lay off the… Continue

Hey Wayne- I'm not in the Waterwell biz, but shallow oil and gas in Eastern Kansas and Oklahoma. The rigs we use are ww rigs though. I was also at Vegas this year, our new 685 Schramm was in the show. We've ran alot of 30 and 50K Gefco's and this is our 2nd 685. We bought it for a big job and then they shut their program down, it's drilled one well since new. I won't ramble on about crappy times, but I'll keep reading your great articles and the next show I'll be sure to look you up.
