I currently work on Big Dog 26. I didn't at the time the first two seasons showed. I agree they looked foolish" to be nice". I have heard all kinds of rumors since moving back to the Permian Basin about things involving the show. Supposedly trutv paid the guys of rig 28 $5,000 plus paid up to $500 a night bar tab. I heard there where many people here in the basin who did boycott the show. I also heard ,but have seen evidence that this isn't true, that them guys where actors and the hands who where actually on that rig before filming where laid off. Big Dog doesn't have the best reputation here among West Texans nor did it before trutv. I do currently work for them and things are very different on my rig. We have a good bunch of guys and the two best toolpushers I have ever worked for. I asked our head toolpusher about trutv coming and filming us instead. My family sure could use the $5,000 bonus. He said the money isn't worth turning his rig into a circus. If I ever did find myself doing my job on camera I WOULD ACTUALLY DO MY JOB and try to teach America a little about the technical aspect of oilwell drilling. I do watch the show and will but as my wife can tell you those guys are a bunch of worms.

Im with Blake I would like to see a documentary myself, showing intial filing for permits, location contruction, well planning, drill string & bha planning, casing design, cementing , logging, the whole thing as cost is added daily so that these wimpering whinning cry babies can actually see the cost involved in drilling a well, then maybe they would appreciate what it is we do for not only our families but for our country as well, it really P%sses me off to here these bureaucrats shutting down the deepwater Gulf down with this moratorium BS, While Babar is filling George Sorroses pockets with tax payer dollars to drill offshore Brazil, I know it would hurt most of us in the wallet, but wouldnt hurt my feelings if the operators shut the whole thing down for a month and watch those Worms in Washington SQUIRM, that would probably allow J****** to declare state of emergency and give him all the more reason to convert everything to GREEN ENERGY but sure would like to have this administration by the wevos. anything to get this Communist Morron OUT OF OFFICE!!!!!

I have been in the oilfield for to many years on and off shore, the stuff they show now on the show is backwoods old style stuff, and some of the companys they are using, that stuff doesn`t happen like that now a days, the oil field now has so much technology, it is amazing

I take that show for what it is, an entertainment show. Those of us that work as professionals in the industry know what REALLY goes on at the rig. Watch it or don't. Personal preference. I myself don't watch it because other shows are on that I like better.

I see that show for what it is. A reality show, and like all of the rest of them, not a very good one. Can people really be so stupid? Yes, I suppose they can. To my way of thinking it might make a good training film on what not to do. I've spent over 35 years in the patch, the overwhelming majority of which was spent overseas in underdeveloped countries working with the local population as labor, and they didn't get themselves in the predicaments you see on this fairy tale, and I'm sure a lot of people out there have seen the same thing. I do know that if it happened to come about that I became involved with fools on a rig who were of the caliber as seen on this show, somebody would have to go. Whether it would be a lot of somebodies, or just one, that being me, would not be an issue that would take long in correcting. It's still a free country sort of, so if you want to watch an updated version of the Keystone Cops enjoy. I on the other hand would rather spend my time sitting outside with a cold drink and friends swatting flies.

I have been in the oilfield for about 37 years and I can't remember when I have seen so much BS on a show and I do know what I am talking about they need to here it from the real personal from the oilfield. I really hate to see the public shown such bull in there eyes they think that it is really the oilpatch and don't have a clue

Being from UK, not seen the show. However remember the Beverly Hillbillies (1962). It was on British TV. Was a comedy. They found oil on their land and went to live in Beverly Hills.

Artificial Drama, just like all other reality shows that get their draw from Drama. I haven't watched it for the story lines, I just like to see the rigs and equipment in action. It's very retro compared to what I use.

Personally, I wouldn't buy the episodes. Anybody who wants to watch them bad enough should just DVR them.
