I saw you on the show last week and just had to contact you. Mitchell, if you read this, the Whisenhunts from near the Abilene/Merkel area are descendants of my grandmother's family. Her name was Robert Ann Whisenhunt (maried name Davis), and she was born in 1891. Would Bart possibly be your dad? I'm Nancy Ashley and met him once when a student at HSU in the 70's. They are part of my grandmother's direct family. I hope to hear from you and am very proud to see you on the show!

Comment by Floyd R on February 11, 2011 at 7:16pm: I'm really hoping that you guys aren't believing that "Black Gold" is an accurate and fair depiction of the oilfield out here in West Texas...a whole bunch of it is staged and some of the characters are hired actors...Black Gold was one of the reasons that I left Big Dog last summer...I take pride in my job and in the fact that I am a roughneck...a real roughneck, not a dime-store roughneck...sorry for the spoiler if you was believing that the show was real...

Comment by Kris James on April 17, 2011 at 12:42pm: Hate to burst yalls bubble but the show black gold is not acurate to say the least. The roughnecks (actors) that play on this show are portrying the steriotypical version of life as a roughneck. Being a roughneck is a lifestyle NOT just a job.

Comment by dennis bolt on August 5, 2011 at 6:01am: this show depicts THE ATTITUDE OF THE WEST TEXAS ROUGHNECK THAT GIVES THE HANDS IN WEST TEXAS SCH ABAD NAME AND OBVIOUSLY WHEN THE ATTITUDE IS COMPLACENT, THE WORKPLACE IS MADE EVEN MORE HAZARDOUS THAN IT ALREADY IS AND PEOPLE AE GOING TO GET KILLED. I DONT THINK THIS SHOW IS FUNNY, NOR DO I FIND IT ENTERTAINING, AND THE DEATH OF MY SON JASON PAUL BOLT HAS MOTIVATED ME TO MAKE A STAND FOR A LONG NEEDED "CHANGE IN THIS HERE, UNTAMED WEST TEXAS PATCH.....IM JUST SAYIN....

CAUSE THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN GET HANDS TO WORK FOR THEM,,,...BY BENDING AND IGNORING THEIR OWN POLICIES....THERES NOT ENOUGH "EXPERIENCE" IN THE PATCH FOR FUN AND GAMES ANYMORE AND THERE NEVER WAS TO START WITH. YEAH MY SON'S SENSELESS AND VERY PREVENTABLE DEATH MADE ME SEE THRU A WHOLE NEW SET OF EYES!!!
