Hey Guys,
There is a video & close-ups of the National 370 Drawworks on here now that I was yappin' about earlier.
This is the 1st rig I built where I attempted to put scale into my work. It is the one that was a complete layout from front to back and side to side. It took 5 years (off & on) to complete.
The drawworks itself was a 4 month project. It made its Maiden Appearance in the 1990 Energy Show in Estevan Sask, Canada & a few other appearances over the years.
In about 1994, I sold it to my "late" Boss & Mentor at Big Sky Drilling, Mr. Rick Hayward, a highly respected and intelligent Man in the Saskatchewan Drilling Industry for many years.
It now belongs to his Son, Brent Hayward who is also on this site.
Please check out the video of the drawworks in action and the close-ups I have taken of it.
Jim.
Comment by Tom Kipgen on May 14, 2011 at 2:20pm Wow Jim, your work is fantastic. I too built a functional rig but mine is 1/32nd scale and is mostly brass. The detail on your National 370 is phenomenal! Does that weight indicator actually work? Congratulations. What will you do next?
Tom
