World Oilfield Forum
Comment by James C.(Craigo) Sexton on June 9, 2009 at 8:09pm I wish you well in waiting once again on oil booms. I have put in 25 years on drilling rigs. I have seen the oilfield go up & down just like a roller coaster. I myself have gotten off the ride. I will miss the way of life I have led. I now will drive a truck coast to coast hauling goods that people depend on to survive. I pray that your kelly is high & your family is well. Be SAFE they depend on you!
Peace Craigo

Democrat in office will always kill the military and the oilfield. Be best to start looking for something other than oilfield to work in for a few years, then go back when it does pick back up. Take advantage of retraining offered by Unemployment Office and get used to living on lower-income for a little while.
A few of the more experienced hands will keep working and drag ourselves through on lower wages and intermittent wells. As with all busts, plan for the worst and come out better. When it does pick back up, and it will ( the world is addicted to oil with no short-term alternative) spend your money wisely and plan on the next downturn.
Just the way it is in the Oilfield.
Was a youngster during the 70's when I thought it was never going to end and blew my money on boats, motorcycles, new trucks just like my hands recently did. Better prepared for it this time.
Those who are seeing their first bust have to learn from this in order to take advantage of the good pay next time it picks up. Those of the newer guys who truly applied themselves to learning and put in a hard days work will be working again in time. be patient fellas, it will return and the true hands will drive on.
