Absolutely helps!! Used it for years to allow crews to critique their placement of hands, body position to lift. Egress in and out of work areas.

That depends on what the video will be used for. If the company installs cameras in an effort to review employee performance, safety, and any other element that would improve operations, then video is a great tool. To work effectively, employees should be briefed on such an application and educated on the importance of the information that would be gathered.

On the other hand, video installed outside the scope of reviewing performances and enhancing operations will tend to invite "show offs" wanting to get themselves in the spotlight. This behavior tends to lead to carelessness that would result in accidents and/or tragedy.

I hope my comment is helpful.

It works, a very good tool as Lynn says to demonstrate behavioural safety, people often can not believe that it was them doing what they are seeing. Any tool that can be used to chance the behaviour and improve safety I'm all for it.

Some may not like as it will so them FTD, if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

How could it hurt? I wish they had it back in when I was young. All we had were still photos.  I would love to see a video of us tripping pipe back then.

When I was in Poland we had small, truck mounted mineral ex rigs.  The crews worked 5 days a week, but went off and drilled water wells on the weekends... Sat-connected video put an end to that.

I'm not sure if it would or not, I can definitely see it for safety though

Great tool to have. All our rigs in Saudi have CCTV. Helps a lot with incident reports and also a useful training tool for hand and foot placement.

Love spying around the rig with CCTV! And an excellent tool for mud loggers and MWD.

So much for "what happens on location.... stays on location" ?

Takes little effort to install CCTV - has to stay on site for purposes mentioned above - training (showing both good and bad behavior) and if necessary incident investigation (but usually the camera is not there where the incident happened!
